Introduction

GetMattered (we, our, the Service) is an AI-powered job application platform operated from the United States by Seyedehava Bagherzadehhosseinian, an individual. Seyedehava Bagherzadehhosseinian is the business responsible for the personal information described in this policy. This policy explains what we collect, what we do with it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what you can make us do about it.

Privacy contact: privacy@getmattered.com. Privacy requests go to that address and are handled by us directly.

This policy does not run on your consent alone. Most of what we do with your data we do because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for, or because it is necessary to run that service safely and lawfully. Section 04 sets out each purpose and the choice you have over it, because the choice is the part that matters.

02

Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email, and authentication details. If you sign in with Google OAuth, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.

Career profile data

You provide personal information such as work history, education, skills, and career preferences. We use this for resume scoring, job matching, AI-powered applications, resume building, and application tracking. Stored securely; used only for providing the Service.

Job and resume data

GetMattered uses resumes and job information to generate ATS scores, match assessments and improvement suggestions. Uploaded documents and saved work remain associated with your account.

Usage and analytics data

We collect usage data - feature usage, session duration, interaction patterns, device and browser, IP address, and session recordings of your interaction with our own pages - through PostHog, so we can see which features work and reproduce a bug you report. This is pseudonymous rather than anonymous: it is not labelled with your name, but it can be linked to your account, so we treat it as personal information and it carries all the rights in Section 12. Session recordings cover our own product only; they never extend to a third-party job site.

Relay email and on-your-behalf accounts

When you use auto-apply, we may create a private relay email address for you on a neutral domain and, for sites that require it, a candidate account on that site. We store the relay address, mail received at it (which we AI-classify into application statuses such as interview, offer, or rejection), and any account credentials we generate. Generated passwords are stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM); we never store the passwords to your existing accounts.

Connected Gmail and Outlook inboxes

If you connect a Gmail or Outlook inbox on the Integrations page, we read the messages in it that look like job mail: application receipts, verification codes from hiring systems, and replies from employers. We use them to finish your applications, track their outcome, and show them in your GetMattered inbox. We send mail from that inbox only for an application or reply you started.

We do not use your inbox data for advertising. We do not sell it. We do not use it to train AI models. Our AI provider processes a message only to sort it for you. Our staff do not read your mail unless you ask us to, unless it is needed for security or to follow the law, or unless the data is aggregated and anonymized.

GetMattered's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

You can disconnect an inbox at any time on the Integrations page. When you disconnect, we delete the tokens and the mail we stored from that inbox. You can also remove our access in your Google or Microsoft account settings.

Payment information

Depending on where you buy, payment details are collected and processed by Stripe, Apple or Google. We do not store full payment card details. We receive purchase, transaction and subscription information to verify purchases and manage access.

03

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and operate the AI-powered job application platform.
  • Process your career data for resume scoring, job matching, AI applications, and resume building.
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions.
  • Send transactional emails (account verification, password resets, payment receipts).
  • Send onboarding and product update emails (unsubscribe anytime).
  • Improve AI accuracy and Service quality from aggregated usage patterns.
  • Ensure security and prevent abuse.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not use your resumes, jobs, or application content to train GetMattered's own models. AI features are delivered with the AI service providers described in Section 07, which process data on our instructions.

04

How We Use Your Information, and Your Choices

These are the purposes we process personal information for, and what you can do about each one.

  • Providing the Service - running your account, managing saved work, operating your relay inbox, creating candidate accounts where a job site requires one, processing your information with the AI providers in Section 07 to deliver the Service's AI features, and taking payment.
  • Security and fraud prevention - keeping accounts safe, detecting abuse, rate-limiting, blocking automated attacks, and protecting the platform and the people on it. This runs for everyone and is not something we will switch off on request.
  • Product analytics - understanding which features are used, where people get stuck, and how to reproduce a bug you report. You can refuse analytics technologies with the controls in Section 10, at no cost to your access or your price.
  • Service, onboarding and product email - telling you about a product you already use. Transactional mail is part of the Service; everything else carries an unsubscribe link in every message.
  • Advertising and conversion measurement - where we run paid campaigns, establishing that a sign-up came from an ad we paid for. This is the purpose you can opt out of most directly; see Section 10 and Section 12.
  • Legal compliance and defending claims - keeping invoices and payment records for the periods tax and commercial law require of us, responding to lawful requests, and establishing or defending legal claims. That includes answering a payment dispute with the records described in Section 12 of our Terms of Service.

We collect sensitive information only when you choose to provide it. This can include disability or health information, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, veteran status, citizenship or work-authorisation status, date of birth, and diversity answers requested by an employer. A resume or free-text answer may also contain other sensitive information. We never infer diversity answers. We store and use this information only to provide the Service and complete actions you request, including sending application answers to employers. Do not add it unless you want us to use it for those purposes.

05

Automated Decision-Making

When auto-apply is on, we rank job matches and complete and submit application forms automatically, on your instruction and using rules and models you configure in your AI settings. That is automation of a task you would otherwise do yourself. We make no decision about you - employers do, and we neither influence nor receive the basis of their decision.

You remain in control of it: you can turn auto-apply off, change your matching preferences and scoring weights, review every submission in your dashboard, and ask us to correct anything we generated. If you would rather nothing were sent without you looking at it first, keep auto-apply off and submit from the review queue.

06

Applications We Submit on Your Behalf

When you use auto-apply, GetMattered takes a few actions for you so applications can be submitted and tracked. Here is exactly what happens to your data.

Relay email address

We may create and operate a private relay email address on your behalf, on a neutral domain separate from getmattered.com. This address is used as the contact email on applications we submit for you, so replies, verification links, and recruiter messages arrive at an inbox we operate. Mail received there is processed and AI-classified to track your application status (for example, interview, offer, or rejection) and forwarded to you. The address is yours and persists for as long as we operate it, including after cancellation, so recruiter replies always have a home.

Accounts we create on your behalf

Some job sites require a candidate account before you can apply. For those, we may create an account on your behalf using your profile information, your relay email address, and a securely generated password that is stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM). These accounts exist only to complete your application and are surfaced to you in your dashboard, where you can view the credentials and sign in to that site yourself.

Contact details we supply when yours are missing

When an employer's form requires a contact detail that is not in your profile - for example a telephone number, a street address, or a postal code - we may enter a substitute value so the application can be completed rather than abandoned. That value did not come from you and is not your real detail; for telephone numbers it is a number reserved by your country's telecoms regulator so that it can never be assigned to any person. We record which values we supplied and for which application, and label them in your application timeline as answered by AI, so you can tell them apart from the data you gave us. A substitute value is used for that one application only: it is not added to your profile, and a value you have saved is never replaced. Add the real detail to your profile at any time (see Correct under Your Rights) and we will use yours instead. You are responsible for the accuracy of information submitted in your name, so please review the applications we send.

We do not store your job-site passwords

We never ask for, collect, or store the passwords to your existing job-site or email accounts. We apply through job sites' public career pages using only the profile information you provide, never your existing logins or session credentials.

07

Who We Share Data With

We use the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

  • Stripe - payment processing and subscription management.
  • Amazon Web Services (SES) - transactional email delivery, and delivery and receipt of mail to your relay address (United States).
  • PostHog - product analytics, usage tracking and session recording of our own pages (pseudonymous, EU-hosted).
  • OpenRouter and AI model providers - OpenRouter, Inc. routes our AI requests to models run by OpenAI, Google, DeepSeek, Moonshot AI, Z.ai, NVIDIA, DeepInfra and Baidu, to deliver the Service's AI features, such as document writing, job matching, interview preparation and application assistance.
  • Google OAuth - optional authentication provider.
  • Cloudflare - hosting, CDN and security infrastructure.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile - bot protection on our own site (replaces CAPTCHA).
  • Application infrastructure providers - cloud and network services that help complete and submit job applications on your behalf.
  • Meta, Google and TikTok advertising platforms - where we run paid campaigns, to measure that a sign-up came from an ad. They receive event and hashed-identifier data, never your resume, job or application content, and not where you have opted out of advertising technologies (see Section 10).

How each company handles information depends on its service, its policies and any applicable agreements. Employers and advertising platforms make their own decisions about information they receive. We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

AI processing

To deliver the Service's AI features, we send the information each feature needs to OpenRouter, Inc.: profile and contact details, resumes and other uploaded documents, career history, job preferences, application information and answers, job descriptions, messages about your applications, and screenshots of application pages.

OpenRouter passes each request to an AI model run by one of these companies: OpenAI, Google, DeepSeek, Moonshot AI, Z.ai, NVIDIA, DeepInfra or Baidu. Our servers refuse to send a request to any other model provider.

We use this processing to match you to jobs, score and tailor your resume, write cover letters and application answers, fill in application forms, and sort the email you receive about your applications.

You agree to this processing with a required checkbox when you sign up. To withdraw your agreement, delete your account or write to us. The Service's AI features cannot run without it.

We send only the information each feature needs, and only over encrypted connections. OpenRouter and each model provider handle this information under their own terms of service and privacy policies, including OpenRouter's Privacy Policy, which states that OpenRouter uses measures designed to secure personal data.

None of these companies trains its models on your information, and each is bound by terms that protect it at least as well as we do. Write to us and we will tell you which provider and terms apply to a particular feature.

08

Where Your Data Lives

Data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure. It is encrypted in transit via TLS/HTTPS and at rest using Cloudflare D1's at-rest encryption. We apply access controls, regular reviews, and minimal collection. Only Seyedehava Bagherzadehhosseinian has administrative access to the production database.

Where your data is processed

We are established in the United States. Your information is processed on our infrastructure and by the providers listed in Section 07, in the locations where those services operate. PostHog hosts our product analytics in the EU. Ask us which providers and processing locations apply to a particular feature.

Data sent to employers

An application you ask us to submit is, by design, sent to the employer or applicant tracking system that posted the job, wherever they are. That is the service you instructed, not a disclosure we make on our own account. Employers decide for themselves what to do with what they receive.

09

How Long We Keep It

We keep data only as long as the purpose it was collected for lasts, and then delete it. In practice:

  • Account and career profile - for as long as your account exists. Delete your account in dashboard settings and it goes, along with your profiles and usage history.
  • Applications and their timelines - for the life of the account, because they are your record of what was sent in your name and you may need it long after the fact.
  • Relay inbox and mail received there - while we operate the address for you, so that a recruiter reply months later still reaches you. Ask us and we will retire the address.
  • Credentials for accounts we created on your behalf - encrypted, for the life of the account, so you can keep signing in to those job sites yourself.
  • Security and abuse logs - up to 24 months, then deleted.
  • Records of your acceptance of these documents - for as long as a claim arising from your contract could still be brought, because their whole purpose is to answer one.
  • Invoices and payment records - for the periods tax and commercial law requires of us. This is a legal obligation and survives account deletion; we cannot delete these on request.
  • Backups - deleted on their normal rotation after the primary record goes.

After deletion we may keep aggregated or anonymised figures that cannot be linked back to you.

10

Cookies, Analytics and Advertising

GetMattered uses the following cookies and similar technologies:

  • Essential - authentication, session management, security and bot protection. These cannot be switched off without breaking sign-in.
  • Product analytics - PostHog, to understand which features are used and where people get stuck, and to record sessions so we can reproduce a bug you report. It sets cookies and uses local storage to recognise a returning browser.
  • Advertising and conversion measurement - where we are running paid campaigns, our pages may load the Meta pixel, Google Ads or Google Tag Manager tags, and the TikTok pixel, so that an advertising platform can tell us that a sign-up came from an ad we paid for. These set third-party cookies and share a hashed identifier with that platform.

⚠️ Correction, 17 August 2026: earlier versions of this page said we used no advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. That was true when it was written and stopped being true when we started running paid acquisition. The sentence above replaces it. We would rather publish the correction than quietly leave a comfortable line in place - and if you want to know what changed and when, ask us.

How to turn the non-essential ones off

Advertising and analytics technologies are not needed to run your account and you can refuse them. Use your browser's third-party cookie controls or tracker blocking, or the ad-personalisation settings in your Meta, Google or TikTok account. Write to us and we will exclude your account from advertising audiences. None of this affects your access to the product or the price you pay.

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do share a hashed identifier - typically a hashed email address, or an advertising platform's own click identifier - with Meta, Google and TikTok so that they can attribute a sign-up to an ad we paid for. Several US state privacy laws treat that as sharing for targeted advertising, and the controls in the paragraph above are how you opt out of it. What we never share with an advertising platform is your resume, job or application content: an advertising tag sees that a browser visited a page or completed a sign-up, not what is in your documents.

11

Email Communications

We send the following email types:

  • Transactional emails - login links, password resets, payment receipts. Required for the Service.
  • Onboarding emails - getting-started guides during your first week. Unsubscribe anytime.
  • Product updates - milestone notifications, feature announcements, re-engagement. Unsubscribe anytime.

Every marketing and onboarding email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also contact us anytime to opt out of non-essential communications.

12

Your Rights

US state privacy laws give residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia the rights below. We extend them to everyone who uses GetMattered, wherever you live, because operating two standards is how mistakes get made.

  • Know - what personal information we collect, why we process it, and who we disclose it to. This policy is that disclosure; ask us if anything in it is unclear.
  • Access - confirm whether we are processing your personal information, and get a copy of what we hold.
  • Correct - fix anything inaccurate. Most of your profile you can edit yourself in your dashboard.
  • Delete - delete your personal information, from dashboard settings or by contacting us, other than the records we are required to keep (see Section 09).
  • Obtain a copy, and take it with you - receive your data in a portable, structured, machine-readable format you can move elsewhere.
  • Opt out of targeted advertising, sale and sharing - we do not sell your personal information for money, and we do share hashed identifiers with advertising platforms for conversion measurement. You can switch that off with the controls in Section 10, or by writing to us.
  • Opt out of profiling - auto-apply ranks and submits on your instruction and you can turn it off at any time; see Section 05.
  • No discrimination for asking - exercising any of these is free, and never costs you access to the product, a feature, a different level of service, or a different price.

To exercise these rights, contact privacy@getmattered.com. We respond within 45 days, as US state privacy laws require, and will tell you if we need a further 45 days and why. We may need to verify that the request is really yours before we act on it, usually by asking you to send it from the email address on the account.

Someone making a request for you

You can appoint an authorised agent to make a request on your behalf. We will ask the agent for written permission signed by you, or for a power of attorney, and we may still verify your identity with you directly and confirm that you gave the agent authority before we act.

If we say no

If we decline a request, we will tell you why. You can appeal that decision: reply to it, or write to privacy@getmattered.com with the word Appeal in the subject line. We will review it and give you a written answer, with our reasoning, within 45 days. If we still decline after the appeal, you may contact your state attorney general.

Withdrawing your permission

Where we rely on your permission - advertising measurement, marketing email - you can withdraw it at any time, and doing so does not affect anything that already happened. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link, and email preferences are in your dashboard.

Where the mandatory law of the country in which you live gives you rights that cannot be waived, those rights apply and nothing here limits them.

13

California Notices

Shine The Light

California Civil Code section 1798.83, the Shine The Light law, lets California residents ask us once a year for a list of the personal information we disclosed to third parties for those third parties' own direct marketing purposes during the previous calendar year, and who those third parties were. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing. If that ever changes we will say so here. To make a request anyway, write to privacy@getmattered.com with Shine The Light in the subject line.

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a Do Not Track setting. There is no uniform industry or legal standard for what a website must do when it receives one, so we do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals, and we do not currently detect a Global Privacy Control signal either. The controls in Section 10 - your browser's cookie and tracker settings, your ad-personalisation settings with Meta, Google or TikTok, and writing to us - do work, and they work regardless of either signal. If that changes we will say so here.

14

Children's Privacy

GetMattered is for adults aged 18 and older. We do not permit anyone under 18 to create an account or use the Service, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected data from someone under 18, we will delete it promptly. We also do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16 for targeted advertising, and we would not do so without the opt-in that US state law requires.

15

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service. The Last updated date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision.
